January 2010 Newsletter
Dear All
First, on behalf of the Committee, can I wish everyone a happy New Year. I hope you had a good break over Christmas and are ready to face 2010!
This letter contains some important news about BMYO and rehearsals over the next couple of weeks.
Christmas Concert
First, can I just thank all of our members and our conductors for a fantastic concert back in December – again, one to remember. Thanks also to everyone who stepped up to help during the concert, especially with the catering and a special thanks to Carol Gibson, who yet again ensured that the catering was superb.
Changes at Symphony Orchestra
Unfortunately, over the Christmas break, Alan Pash told us that he is resigning as conductor of the Symphony Orchestra. Alan’s full-time job is as a professional musician with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera and the workload with that post is now so great that he felt he could not attend enough rehearsals on a Thursday night. Before leaving, however, Alan has secured us the services of Chris Gray from RSAMD for the coming term. We would like to thank Alan for all his hard work, time and enthusiasm and for helping to develop BMYO, especially the Symphony Orchestra, over the past few years to the point we are at now.
Help Needed
Just a reminder that we are always ready to welcome parents who can spare some time for BMYO – helping at concerts, parent rota, of on the Committee. Please speak to a Committee member if you are interested in finding out more.
